I’ve set my intention for my year of making: to take things slow, not rush through projects, take on some bigger, harder projects that I’ve wanted to try, and generally take my time.
Reflecting back on the first half of 2025, while life has been anything but, my making has definitely been slow. I’m trying to measure my crafting not in the amount of production, but the amount of enjoyment. Not to say I didn’t have a deadline – looking at you wedding shawl.

Speaking of wedding shawl, yes, I finished it on time. She is glorious and I love how she turned out. I’ll do a full post when all the pictures come back.
Speaking of the wedding, I didn’t make my dress. I definitely tried to make my dress, but I gave up and made a rehearsal dress instead.

This is the Hinterland Dress by Sew Liberated. I used their Fit & Sew Bodices course to get the best fitting Hinterland I’ve made so far and also hacked the front and back necklines to be v-shaped. The fabric is some Liberty Tana Lawn in Betsy – my favorite Liberty pattern. I almost finished up two other Hinterlands on the way to making this one, those are on the docket for finishing this summer.
I also cast on a pair of wedding trip socks, which here, one month later, are getting the final toe tonight! Plans: finishing socks and regular blogging. We’re working on things, folks.

In not wedding news, I’m still plugging away at my Christmas socks challenge, though woefully behind. But, hey, I’ve got three more pairs of Christmas socks than I had before and we’re being slow. I’ll finish them when I finish them.

First up, I finished the February socks months and months ago, and here they finally are in their squishy glory. This is Trimming the Tree by Bumblebee Acres Yarn on their Coquette sock base. This is one of my favorite sock yarns out there – it’s so thick and squishy.

Next up, I cast on and finished these beauties. The yarn is the North Pole sock set by Woolberry Fiber Co. I’ve coveted this colorway for so long and the socks are a holiday dream.

Finally, my April socks are just barely started and into the heel. This is Candy Cane Forest from Sweet Sparrow Yarns, complete with gold sparkle. These are probably the sweetest socks I’ll make from this project.

And now, in not sock, actual year of slow news. I finished my first embroidery project! The pattern is the original Dropcloth Sampler by Rebecca Ringquist. I used a bunch of threads from my stash and had a ball. It took me about 3 or so weeks all together. Not a very slow project but it definitely took some time to learn the stitches and work bit by bit. I can’t wait to start another one.
Y’all, thanks for being here today. This one is a bit of a catch up now that I feel like I’ve caught my breath from all the wedding prep. I do feel I’ve built a modicum of patience with myself and I’m looking forward to sharing what I stitch along on next.
Happy making!
